Tool #3: Packaging arts experiences for your guests

2017 research data compiled by the Office of the Governor, Economic Development & Tourism shows that arts and culture tourists spend more and stay longer than leisure tourists. That year, almost 40% of non-resident overnight leisure travelers engaged in cultural activities while on vacation.

Offering guests the added value of a unique arts experience can go a long way toward ensuring a return visit and great reviews. Once you’ve established connections with local art partners, work with them to develop curated arts packages that will appeal to potential visitors.

Consider packages that encourage overnight stays by hosting or promoting an arts event on a Friday or Saturday night, followed by a Saturday or Sunday brunch at the hotel. Work with arts leaders to identify slow seasons where hotel rates might be lower and availability higher—opportune times for both the hotel and arts groups to benefit from partnering.
